FIRST (lol)

Somewhat darker than your other music. The synthesis is very expressive and interesting. Really cool sounds. It's a seemingly mysterious sounding track with a very funky groove, which is cool to listen to. I love the way you build the suspense in some of the sections.

Also, congrats on the fiance, and thanks a lot for reviewing my track :D

durn responds:

Hey DISTRIX! :) Thanks for the congratulations on the engagement, dude! :D

Indeed, this time I went for something a little moodier, a little stranger. This is kinda what I imagine a deepsleep through space would be like. Slow and steady then waking up to hustle-bustle of life again and then back to sleep all over again on your voyage to the next planet.

Awesome

Your music is incredibly fresh. Of all the dance music I hear, your style is something that I can't get enough of. It's very organic and well composed. Great work as always on this track.

One day down the road, I want to collab with you on a track. Just saying lol.

durn responds:

:) Thanks DISTRIX. I agree, you've got a great understanding of beats, I do believe we should work together on something in the future as I love melodies but am lacking in how I attack the rhythm sections.

Misconceptions..

Alanisnotcool thinks that different sounds make music better. This is not true. The harmonic flow and melodic elements are what create music. The genericness comes from the track itself, but it's not a bad track. It's just a bit dull. Generic uplifting trance is a bit overdone, which is why I would suggest that you experiment with your style and composition a little more instead of pirate a bunch of software instruments in hopes that you'll be a better musician (like a lot of noobs do on this site) lol. I think producers tend to forget sometimes that music is the core of their production... not the quality of the sounds.

Anyways, good work and keep it up.

WildeKeizer responds:

I don't think I am a better musician just because I use presets. I know I am somewhat generic and I am doing my best to improve.

Listen to my new song called 'Now Is The Time'. You can see, that I try other genres as well instead of generic Trance.

Do not judge a book by its cover.

LOL

I can't even. But good job nonetheless XD

RawGreen responds:

nonetheless, thank you :3

Very nice.

Love the harmonies and melodic flow of this. Great production too with all of the cool sound effects. It has quite a jungle feel to it alongside a futuristic, dystopic atmosphere. Very interesting sensations. Nice work.

RawGreen responds:

oh why thankyou <3

Incredible Production Work

Man, you got really creative with these sounds. Very unique and fun to listen to. I love the song, but the vocal work could use a lot of improving. They sound a little washed out. I'm sure you'll improve that over time. It might just be the vocoder you used.

As always, great work. This is very Durn, which makes me happy.

durn responds:

Aye, they sound a little washed out cause I'm still new to singing. Gotta work up the courage to really belt it out. :) Vocoder worked like a charm, it's not the problem, my voice is. :D But, like any skill, it will only get better with practice.

Thanks for the great review! :)

Yes...

I feel.

P.S. Get signed.

durn responds:

w00t, in time. :)

Nice work

Those chorded pluck synths sound really nice. Nice melodies overall and good progression. Production work is well done as well.

Keep it up ;)

15thDimension responds:

I 'll try xD

Love it.

Very relaxing and soothing. Good work ;)

Insanctuary responds:

Thankyou. Thats the same EXACT thing the guy below me said. Yet he gave me a 7. Am I missing something here? XD!

Awesome improvement

You're getting better and better, man. I'm glad to notice the exceptional compositional improvement. You have a pretty unique style too. The song itself, despite the production/technical issues, is actually very well done.

Mixing is a little better as well. You still have a lot to learn about compression. Your lead synth is very raw sounding and loud. Keep practicing though, and if you need any advice on mixing, I'll offer some tips. YouTube is a great place to find some decent mixing/mastering tutorials.

Heck, if you want me to mix/master a song for you, I wouldn't mind doing this one when I get a free moment :P It truly is well composed. Keep at it!

Darkfire96 responds:

Please mix this! I feel as though Im holding it back in quality.
Its nice to know Im getting better. Also Im really happy that my style is finally getting noticed. By raw sounding you mean...? I could also use some tips on how to master. I Could mix fairly well, but mastering is a little out of my league for now. If you want to mix/master this then make sure u have z3ta+ and vanguard. I used presents instead of creating synths, but i did mess with the filters in z3ta+. So one of the pads have been altered. Just a bit. Mail me your info as i forgot how to send mail on Newgrounds. I still have alot to learn, but im much better than when i started!
